X1 UNCOVERED, WELL ALMOST...
Here are some lightly disguised X1's going through testing somewhere in europe. Knowing BMW, its only a matter of time before full undisguised pics will be released as has been the case with other models in the past. Known as an SAV or Sports Activity Vehicle, it looks like something in between an X3, and a 1 series.
Unfortunately, I dont see vehicles like these selling in any large volumes in Malaysia. Firstly, Malaysians are more conventional and prefer going straight for an SUV. Another interesting thing about our market, hatchbacks dont sell very well at all and has always been a niche market for them.
We will just have to wait and see when if ever this X1 will make it to Malaysia.

NEW BMW M-SAFETY CARS UNVEILED AT THE JEREZ MOTOGP
Prior to the start of the race, BMW showcased their entire safety car fleet on the starting grid at Jerez, Spain.  A new comer in the fleet is the X6 M Safety Car.  Other than safety car duties, there will be an additional 12 X6 M cars that will be used as VIP shuttles.
The X6 M is powered by a V8 M Twin-Turbo engine producing 555 horses which will help ensure its no slouch when compared to its safety car partner, the M6 which makes 507 horses from its V10 engine.
Other notable vehicles seen around the paddock is an M5 touring for the race director, a 330i Touring medical car and an M3 Sedan for the Safety Officer.   Also, the race stewards can be seen shuttling around in their X5 4.8i's.
But thats not the end of it,  BMW will also like to remind you that they're not just about 4 wheels, and at the start of each GP, will be 2 brand new BMW motorbikes in the form of the new RS1000 RR and HP Sport 2 as safety bikes.

BIMMERS CLUB Members Give a Fine Perfomance for the Roundel in MAM RALLY X Round 2 2009 Photobucket Photobucket
Motorsports Association of Malaysia -S epang International Circuit Rally X Series as Round 2 on 26th April.
57 entries of rally, street, drift car. MAM open new categories for the respective classes.Among the categories contested are Rally Car, Street Cars, Ladies driver, BMW Class, Drift Class, Vtec Class, Perodua Challenge.
In general, BMW owners have always been criticised as all show and no go, but Bimmersclub members, Donald, Vincent, Heng, Stephen and Jaesen today, upheld the legend of the "Ultimate Driving Machine" with a fine performance that surprised many observers in their stock standard, and also mildly modified E36 Bimmers.
First-timer, Donald Goh came in 8th overall in a list of competitors that included well known race drivers and all manner of machinery, including Subaru WRX's, Evo's and many more.
Another first-timer, Jaesen came in 30th in a field of 57 competitors despite mechanical problems. He perservered in the true spirit of Rallying to complete the day.
Congratulations also to Stephen(27th), Heng(15th) and Vincent(28th) who truly epitomise that old adage, "race what you brung!". Driving near or fully stock cars, they've proven that you can take your daily driver and race it on the weekend, and then go to work on monday without any worries.

NEW OMP BUCKET SEATS AVAILABLE IN MALAYSIA The official distributor of OMP seats in Malaysia, Rosedi-autosports(in Sunway motorsports alley) have brought in 2 "race" bucket seats at very affordable prices. OMP is a good alternative to Recaro and usually are priced far more competitively. I've used OMP racing seats and 5 point race harnesses before in one of my previous rally cars and I can say that they are well designed and of high quality. The 2 new seats available are the OMP Strada (RM980) and OMP Design 2 (RM1,200) OMP Strada OMP Design 2 Also, anyone who has ever thought of putting in Recaro seats for their cars will know, the seat rail is always a problem. The reason being their cost, which is quite steep. The good news is, OMP seatrails are available, and cost only RM190 per set, and yup, thats not a typo error. Go to the discussion in the forum here.

Kubica and Heidfeld stay with BMW Kubica and Heidfeld will be together for a third full season

BMW Sauber will stick with drivers Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld for 2009, ruling out the possibility of Fernando Alonso joining the team.

BMW were among the teams courting the Spanish double world champion but announced on Monday they would retain their current line up. It leaves Alonso with the choice of staying at Renault or accepting an offer from struggling Honda. A BMW statement said Kubica and Heidfeld was a "strong driver pairing". "We are in no doubt that we will again achieve our ambitious aims with them in the team's fourth year," BMW Motorsport director Mario Theissen said. Austrian Christian Klien will also stay on as the team's test and reserve driver. BMW had been considered one of the front-runners in the race to sign Alonso, and their decision to retain Heidfeld and Kubica will be the subject of much discussion at this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.

Night out with the E90 M3

"Where's your bimmersclub TT" asked Ivan Khong. "I have M3 with me". Great I thought. First thing that came across my mind was, E92 M3 since the M3 coupes have always been the regular M3 of choice around these parts. To my surprise (in a good way), the M3 turned out to be the E90 4dr, which was better, as this was more of a rarity, and also the first 4dr M3 since the E36 with BMW skipping the E46. Unfortunately after a couple of calls, I found out that there wasn't any bimmersclub TT this friday, since many were out of town. But it was too good a chance to pass up, so I told Ivan to meetup at Kayu Mamak in Aman Suria. We were also joined by part-time racer, bmw owner and fan of anything fast, Joe Meng First impressions of the car is, how sedate it looks. From the inside, you'd hardly know you were in something as special as an "M" car. The exhaust note at idle was as quiet as your regular uncle's bimmer. The only thing that catches your eye is the bulge in the bonnet giving away the fact that this is not your regular E90. On the move, the ride was as comfortable as you would expect of any standard bmw, riding over bumps so well, you wouldn't believe this car rides on 18" run-flats... but when the loud pedal was pressed, "Wwwoooooaahhh!" as 420 horses unleashed with a high pitched V8 wail that pushed you back in the seat with the M DCT gearbox upshifting at 8,000 revs giving you a big shove in the butt.. now we're talking. 200km/h came in a blur with no real sensation of speed other than the massive acceleration, and the suspension hardening up thanks to the controllable damping. Massive sideways moments are possible even with the huge sticky rear 265 section Michelin PS2's as Ivan demonstrated at a U-turn. Before I continue to jabber on like an idiot about what a cool car this is, check out more pictures, and discussions about the E90 M3 here in our forum.

Jaesen's "Beast" spotted undergoing engine conversion.

Jaesen's E36 was spotted recently at our favourite workshop (Kean Leong Motorsport) undergoing a massive engine transplant. Rumours of it being a large and powerful V8 seems to be confirmed by these early 'spy shots' taken by our Bimmersclub roving reporter.

Some individuals seen around the vicinity of the workshop refused to clarify or comment on this breaking story. All attempts to reach Jaesen for comments were futile. We can only leave you these pictures to draw your own conclusion on the facts.

Latest compact "Jantzen" tuned BMW V8 engine, designed for its flexible power band and lightweight. Featuring exotic 'green' materials that ensure the engine is 100% recyclable and biodegradable.

*please note that the above story is meant to be a joke, done in the name of good fun and is a total fabrication of the truth. The pictures though, are 100% authentic.
