Radio Transmission Problem Robs A1 Team Malaysia of Home Race Podium

London, Great Britain – The organisers of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport event in Sepang are investigating a communications problem that robbed A1 Team Malaysia’s Fairuz Fauzy of a podium position in the Feature race. The team had experienced problems with radio reception during the Sprint race, with the Team Manager unable to communicate with the rest of the team. However, it was during the Feature race that a, as yet to be identified, technical fault occurred with Fauzy receiving a message to pit which was not relayed by his team. The driver therefore made a totally unnecessary stop while running a very strong third. “We started our investigation into this at the track, and asked the radio supplier for a full report on how it could have happened. One difficulty we have is of replicating the circumstances at Sepang. However, our investigations so far match the findings of the team. “While radio problems of this nature are highly improbable, it is obvious they are not impossible. Our top priority is to make sure this never happens again. “We are obviously disappointed that a problem of this nature has negated all the hard work put in over the weekend by the team, and are sure their loyal fans also feel this way,” said A1GP COO, Bruce Holmes. >discuss this in the forum here<
